A report from Fitch Ratings indicates that Guatemala reported the highest rate of insurance claims with 67.9% in the first half of 2009, representing a 3.3% growth on the previous year. Costa Rica reported a 62.9% rate of insurance claims, El Salvador's rate rose from 51.3% to 52%, whereas Honduras and Nicaragua saw a fall in insurance claims with their respective rates standing at 51.8% and 49%.
In terms of revenues, the Nicaraguan insurance sector saw their revenues rise by 6.7%, while insurance revenues in Costa Rica and Guatemala increased by 4.2% and 2.2%, respectively.
